If you need to renew your car registration do not delay, waiting to renew may result in a ticket. If you are not sure when it is time to renew your registration simply look at your rear license plate. You will have a red or green sticker on the upper left hand corner of the plate. This is the month in which your vehicles registration will expire. Your registration always expires on the last day of the month, unless you have 30 day temporary tags. On the upper right hand corner will be a white sticker. This is the year in which your registration expires.
The average time for registration renewal at Motor Car Tag and Title is less than 5 minutes.
Renewal Process
You can renew your registration by mail, online, at your local Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) office in Maryland, or at a title service agent. At the MVA and online you MUST renew for 2 years. Motor Car Tag and Title offers 1 year registration in addition to the standard 2 year renewal.
Late Renewal Fees
The MVA of Maryland does not charge late fees for failure to renew your registration. However, if you are driving on expired tags you are subject to a ticket.

At Motor Car Tag & Title we want to make renewing your vehicle’s registration as easy as possible. For registration renewals all you need is your driver’s license (driver’s license of registered owner of the vehicle) and the tag, title or VIN number of the vehicle. If you have the current registration card you may bring that as well. You do not need to bring any MVA forms. We have all required MVA forms at our office.
